Harry Hickton Keen To Maintain Momentum As MINI CHALLENGE Trophy Heads To Pembrey

Harry Hickton is aiming to maintain his early momentum in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy this weekend (18-19 May) as the popular one-make series travels to Pembrey for its second outing of the 2024 season.

The Westbourne Motorsport driver enjoyed a sensational start to the new season at Snetterton last month as he blasted his way to the top of the championship standings courtesy of two race wins and a further podium finish.

That superlative launch to the new campaign has laid the foundations for what the teenager hopes can be a sustained challenge for the coveted crown, although he is well aware that the competition at the sharp end of the grid is as fierce as ever.

As the category now rolls into South Wales, Hickton - who is backed by Hysons Chartered Accountants, The Platform Lift Company, Vernham Labels, Addventure, Woodstock, Hippo Campers and Brandfixx - is eager to strengthen his position at the summit further.

“I’m looking forward to getting down to Pembrey where we can hopefully continue our strong start to the season,” said Hickton. “Snetterton was a dream weekend for us but we’ve now got to build on that momentum and push on.

“Westbourne have given me a car that I feel really dialled into and the little changes that we’ve made since the opening round should make the whole package feel that much more refined, which is only a good thing!

“Consistency is what is going to win this championship so we will need to be smart and pick our battles. It would be great to repeat what we did last month but the field is so competitive, three solid points finishes has to be the main target first and foremost.

“As a circuit, I’ve always enjoyed Pembrey; it’s got a great mix of corners and it always produces exciting racing. I’m yet to stand on the podium there so it would be nice to get that ticked off the list.”

Qualifying at Pembrey commences on Saturday at 10:50 with race one following later that afternoon at 14:20. Two more races - scheduled to be run at 09:30 and 14:10 - will then follow on Sunday.

All three races will be streamed LIVE on the British Automobile Racing Club YouTube channel across both days.
