Harry Hickton was able to celebrate a second successive podium finish as he maintained his solid recent form in the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE Trophy at Silverstone.
Hickton’s season looked like it could unravel earlier in the campaign when a dramatic accident at Thruxton wrote off his race car and left him needing to source a replacement to keep his challenge on track.
Although he then endured a tough weekend with a new car when racing resumed at Croft, Hickton returned to the podium last time out at Donington Park and would find himself firmly in the fight for victory in race one at Silverstone.
At one stage briefly holding the race lead, Hickton would end up third after being edged out of second on the run to the line but he remained positive about the result.
“After the accident at Thruxton I’ve been building back up to where I was at the start of the season and something switched at Donington Park,” he said.
“We got onto the podium there in the final race and have now scored another here, so the goal is to try and get onto the top step tomorrow.
“That was a really fun race and while I could have finished higher, I’m happy with the result.”
