Nothing To Lose For Harry Hickton Heading Into MINI Challenge Finale

Harry Hickton has vowed to be on maximum attack at Brands Hatch this coming weekend (2-3 November) as he prepares to close out his 2024 Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy campaign with an all-out assault for the title.

Bringing the curtain down on his sophomore season in the one-make series, the Westbourne Motorsport driver heads to the Kent venue sitting second in the Drivers’ Championship and with a 31-point deficit to overcome.

The 18-year-old - who is backed by Hysons Chartered Accountants, The Platinum Lift Company, Vernham Labels, Addventure, Woodstock, Hippo Campers and Brandfixx – has been one of the undoubted star attractions of the tin top category this year.

Kicking off the season with a brace of wheel-perfect wins at Snetterton, Hickton has since scored two more victories and also chalked up six further podium finishes. However, several bouts of misfortune have cost him valuable points in the fight for top spot.

Going to Brands Hatch firmly within striking distance of team-mate Sam Gornall, the Hampshire-based teenager is fired up to try and sign off his season in style.

“The gloves are coming off - it’s as simple as that,” said Hickton. “The way I see it is that I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain; so it’ll be maximum attack and what will be will be come Sunday night.

“We’ve been one of the fastest cars since the season began and I think had it not been for a few bits of bad luck then we’d either be in the lead or much closer than we are to it. Knowing that we’ve got a solid package means I’m going into the weekend full of confidence.

“It’s quite nice to go to Brands knowing what is required; I’ve got to outscore Sam [Gornall] at every single opportunity. I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic battle and I’ll certainly be giving it absolutely everything I’ve got - I can’t wait to get there now!”

Qualifying at Brands Hatch commences on Saturday at 11:00 with race one following later that afternoon at 15:10. Races two and three will then follow on Sunday at 11:10 and 14:35; with all three contests being broadcast on the British Automobile Racing Club YouTube channel.
